Privacy notice for the study planner
The planner does not keep your plan on your device: no plan content in localStorage, no cookies. What you plan lives in the browser window and, once an account exists, online. The only thing the browser stores locally is your sign-in session, an access token from Supabase, so that you stay signed in and your last plan reopens on the next visit; signing out removes it. This page says which data that is, where it is kept and how you get rid of it again.
Responsible
Simon Lindermeier operates studienplan.ch as a private initiative by students of the University of St. Gallen. The planner is not an offering and not official information of the university. To get in touch or request access to, correction of or deletion of your data, contact him at simon.lindermeier@student.unisg.ch.
Which data arises
- Guest account. On studienplan.ch the planner quietly creates an anonymous account on your first change to a plan or your learning journal: a random identifier, without a name, without an email address, without a password. It automatically saves your plan and learning journal so they survive a reload.
- Sign-in. If you sign in with Google or Apple, the provider passes on your email address and name; with Apple's «hide my email» a relay address. The guest account is linked to this identity and the plans move with it. The planner has no password, and we never see your Google or Apple password.
- Plans. Programme, entry and start semester, credits already earned, planned courses and semesters, working days, bidding points and the settings of the drop simulator, as one document per plan, plus the plan's name, the sharing switch, the link identifier and the time of creation and last change. No student number, no grades.
- One flag on the account saying whether you have already seen the one-time support dialog.
- Learning journal. Custom subjects, planned and actual learning times, dates, durations and optional notes, confirmed class attendance, and the state of a running or paused timer. This data is a private document attached to your account, separate from plans and without local storage.
Where the data is kept
- Supabase runs the database and the sign-in. The database is located in Zurich (AWS, region eu-central-2).
- Vercel serves the website and counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics: without cookies and without identifying anyone, only page views and coarse device classes. As the host, Vercel sees the IP address of every request, like any web server.
- Google Fonts. Your browser loads the IBM Plex typeface from Google's servers; Google receives your IP address in the process.
- jsDelivr. The browser loads the Supabase client library from this CDN; your IP address reaches it as well.
Sharing
A plan is readable by others only if you switch on «Shareable by link» under «Account and data». Anyone with the link receives the plan's name and content as a copy, not your email address and not your account identifier. Switch it off and the link returns nothing.
Your learning journal, attendance and timer stay private. They appear neither in shared plans nor in exported HTML copies.
Deletion and retention
- Plans you delete yourself under «Account and data», one at a time and immediately.
- Learning entries can be deleted individually in your learning calendar. Deleting or resetting a plan does not delete your independent learning journal.
- Guest accounts that have changed neither a plan nor their learning journal for 90 days are deleted by a weekly job in the database, together with their plans and learning data.
- A Google or Apple account with all its plans and learning data is deleted by the operator on request. You can additionally revoke the connection to the planner at Google or Apple yourself.
- Exchange and StudyGroups. The «Exchange» view shows experience reports only after signing in and stores nothing about you for that. StudyGroups is a separate application with its own privacy notice. After sign-in, the planner's weekly calendar loads study sessions you participate in with the same account: title, course, time, format and location. These details remain separate from the saved plan and do not appear in shared plans or HTML copies. Online meeting links are not fetched for this display.
Binding sources
Only the study regulations, course fact sheets and exam schedules of the University of St. Gallen are binding. This planner does not replace advice from the programme office. All information is provided without warranty.
